New Haven Register has released it’s All-Area Basketball Team for 2016-17 season. This year was a crazy one with Hillhouse being a local team to win themselves another state championship and having 4 players make the first team All-area. The All-Area team is picked for those local to New Haven county and places where the Register services the most. This young men have all earned their way. Good training to all, and to all a good fight!!!

Stats: Area’s leading scorer (23.2 ppg.) along with 6.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game. Also made 69 3-pointers and finished with over 2,000 career points (his first three seasons were at South Kent).
Honors: State Gatorade Player of the Year. SCC Player of the Year. Coaches all-state pick. Selected to play in the Jordan Brand Classic and the JCC Schoolboy Classic.
Up next: Originally signed with Georgetown, but has since re-opened his recruiting process.

Stats: Led Westbrook to its best season in school history, finishing 25-3 with its first Shoreline Conference tournament championship. Knights also reached the Class S state final for the first time. Completed 27 season as head coach (also at North Branford and Hand) and has 245 victories.
Honors: Past New Haven Tap-Off Club and All-Area Coach of Year (2005 at Hand).
Off the court: Has own company, National Roofing.

Stats: Averaged 11.7 points and 10 rebounds for the SCC and two-time Class LL state champions. Scored more than 20 points four times. Scored 19 points in the SCC tournament final to earn tournament MVP honors.
Honors: Two-time All-Area and All-SCC selection. First Team all-league pick this year.
Off the court: Holds a 3.0 grade point average.

Stats: Averaged 17 points and five assists per game for the SCC Quinnipiac Division co-champions. Surpassed 1,000 career points.
Honors: Two-time All-SCC selection (First team pick this year).
Off the court: Honors student.

Stats: Averaged 20.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists for the Shoreline Conference tournament champions. Finished with 1,392 career points and posted 14 double-doubles this season.
Honors: Two-time All-Shoreline and coaches all-state selection.
Off the court: Honor roll student who volunteers at a local soup kitchen and an area basketball camp.
Up next: Considering Southern Connecticut to attend next fall.

Off the court: Member of the school’s National Honors Society and a community volunteer.

Stats: Averaged 16.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 per game for the Hornets. Scored close to 1,300 career points, set the assist record for a season (136) and tied it for a game (17). Among the area 3-point leaders this season with 80, also a school record.
Honors: Four-time All-Fairchester League and two-time All-Area and New Haven County Tap-Off Team selection.
Up next: Considering either Conn College or a post-graduate year.

Stats: Among the area scoring leaders, averaging 21 points, along with 6.1 rebounds and 5.4 assists, for the Green Dragons. Finished with 1,118 career points. and was among the area 3-point leaders with 54.
Honors: Two-time All-Area, All-SCC (First team pick this year) and coaches all-state selection.
Up next: Will play at Iona next season.

Honors: Three-time coaches all-state and All-SCC selection. First Team all-league pick this season.
Off the court: Compiled a 3.2 GPA.
Up next: Considering Roger Williams, Suffolk, Western New England and Emmanuel to continue playing career next season.

Stats: Averaged 19.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists for the Spartans. Shot 33 percent from 3-point range and 87 percent from the free-throw line.
Honors: Two-time All-Area, All-SCC (First Team pick this season) and coaches all-state selection. New Haven Tap-Off Club All-Area pick.

Stats: Averaged 12.1 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots per game for the SCC tournament finalists.
Honors: Three-year starter and captain was an All-SCC Second Team selection. Chosen to play in both the CHSCA All-Star game and the JCC Schoolboy Classic.
